Is the s&w m&p 15-22 Legal in St. louis illinois?

I am in getting one in a week or 2 and I will be moving to illinois here soon and my cuz told me they had strict gun laws and he says I have to get a FOID card to own a firearm and by ammo...I moving to troy. so if anyone lives their or knows anything about its gun laws I would greatly appricate your help. =)
