Home defense pistol in minnesota at age 18 (i have my firearm safety certificate)?

I want to know if I could have my sister buy a pistol and let me keep it in the house (since she purchased my 20 gauge when I was younger. I still dont have the shotgun in my possession and I dont plan on acting a fool with a gun, just want good house protection. Answer!**
