Is it possible for Al Qaeda to control parts of Libya like they did in Afghanistan pre-9-11?
There are reports coming in that Al Qaeda is assisting a Libayan chapter known as the "Al Qaeda in Magherb" with men and firearms. A few months ago there was a similar report, this time from a former Iraq and Afghanistan Al Qaeda fighter, al-Hasidi, who claimed that he recruited 25 men from Al Qaeda to join the fight in Libaya. He is identified as a member of the Libayan Islamic Fighting Group which has been revealed to have former Al Qaeda ties. There is some (unverified) speculation that some members of this group have joined the Al Qaeda chapter.
